The Mille Lacs News website will no longer be active. It
will, however, remain online as an archive to document the fight between a
small residential neighborhood and a corrupt small town government that sold
its soul to a ruthless corporation. The war began in 2007 when the
Nexus Corporation decided to build its unlocked juvenile sex offender
facility in the midst of an R1 Residential neighborhood with day care,
elderly widows, disabled citizens, families, children and grandchildren.
SPOILER ALERT: The neighbors lost, of course.
In the process of exercising my 1st Amendment Rights -
petitioning the government, Freedom of Speech, and Freedom of the Press -
Nexus CEO Jim D'Angelo and board member Peter D. Freeman sued me for
"defamation". When that failed to stop me from speaking the truth, the Nexus
Corporation filed a second suit against me. The court battles ran from 2007
to 2011. My lawyers ditched me when I ran out of money. I continued on
my own, pro se. They say that he who acts as his own lawyer has a fool for a
client. I say that she who acts as her own lawyer has a fool for a lawyer.
But I prevailed. I beat them. Approximately one
week before each scheduled trial,
all charges were dropped - proving once and for all that the lawsuits were
frivolous SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation).
Although I never wrote or said anything that crosses the
threshold of defamation, as a courtesy I removed a blog from the Bradbury
Buzzz that upset Mr. D'Angelo. Judge Rosenbaum ordered me to remove one
article on the Mille Lacs News because it caused Peter Freeman embarrassment.
Boohoo Peter. Free Speech gives us the right to tell the Truth, even if it
makes someone uncomfortable or hurts their feelings. I also had to remove a
video on YouTube about Tanner Wilson, a boy who "died" in a Nexus
"treatment" facility. So much for Free Speech. Check it out.
This website is long and the story is complex. What can I say
- I'm wordy. I apologize for any links that stopped working. I hope you'll
take initiative to follow up on your own. And I hope that I help any activists
who, like me, are fighting for
our rights in a world that seems to think we don't have any anymore. Don't
let THEM "chill" you. Good
