Between the announcement in April 2007 that Nexus would build its sex offender facility in Bradbury Township and the arrival of the first bulldozers on the doomed 38.81 acre building site in May 2008, the Mille Lacs News diligently fought to stop the project by presenting government officials and voters with information heretofore withheld from them by Nexus. It was the Mille Lacs News who exposed the lies and misinformation supplied by Nexus concerning public safety, tax exemption denials, as well as exposing a local government acting as the aggressive agent of a private corporation rather than as a representative body of the citizenry it was created to protect. The Mille Lacs News was dedicated not only in showing the "other side", the views of the citizens opposing the sex offender facility, but in providing readers with truths the government and the company tried to cover up.
